This bread is the perfect sharp-cheese bread to serve with a roast or Italian dinner!  Easy, homemade, and absolutely delicious!!

Asiago Herb Bread

  • 1 1/2 Tbs olive oil
  • 1 1/3 cups lukewarm water (around 100 degrees)
  • 3 cups bread flour
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
  • 1 1/4 cup shredded Asiago cheese
  • 1 tsp basil
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning

Follow your bread maker instructions to combine the oil, water, flour, sugar, salt, 1/2 cup cheese, 1/2 tsp basil, 1/2 tsp Italian seasoning, and yeast.   Use the dough setting to mix and rise the bread.  When dough cycle is complete, lightly grease a cookie sheet or baking stone.  Preheat oven to 350.  Lightly oil your hands with some olive oil, remove dough onto the cookie sheet or stone and shape into a long oval or circle, about 1 inch thick.  For oval-shaped bread, use the bottom of a wooden spoon to “dimple” or make grooves along the length of the bread.  Push the handle all the way through to the cookie sheet.  (When the dough rises, it will fill back in partially).  Cover top of dough with remaining seasoning mixture and remaining Asiago cheese.  Cover and let rise in a warm location for about 30 minutes, or until double in thickness.  Bake for 20 to 30 minutes or until a very light golden.   Enjoy!
