Most kiddos dream of having a puppy or kitten to grow up with. Our oldest son, JR, however, has dreamed of having a pet bird since he was about 4 years old. We finally consented, but placed 2 conditions on his request. First, he had to wait until we lived at Red Gate Farm, and second, he had to earn the money and buy the birds and all supplies himself. He patiently did both, and purchased a breeding pair of cockatiels. He is still learning, but has been working hard to train them to his finger and our daily routine. He practices talking and singing to them regularly, in the hopes they will one day talk back. Only time will tell there!
